TGIF! I don't know about y'all but the weekend could not get here fast enough. After some sadness on Monday, I've been a bit blue this week so I'm hoping this weekend will cheer me up. I have provided you all with a few of my favorite things right now!
1. Olexa's in Birmingham
I'm counting down till my lunch outing to one of my fave restaurants in Bham. Olexa's is home to the BEST cake I have ever had. They also have a great variety of salads and my pick, the ultimate grilled cheese. The real specialties are the desserts, I recommend the Warm White Chocolate Chunk Bread Pudding and the French Vanilla Cloud Nine but my all- time must-order is the Warm French Vanilla Butter crème Cake. Seriously if you live in the Ham or just visiting, you must go!
Open Monday-Saturday from 10-4.
2. The Gift
The summer has been filled with superheroes, dinosaurs, and minions but I am excited to check out this thriller starring one of my favorites Jason Bateman (in a non-comedic role) and Joel Edgerton (who also directed the film!). The pretense of the film centers around Bateman's character and wife moving back to his childhood neighborhood where he encounters a former classmate who was a bit of "weirdo" in high school. Obsessive gifts start appearing from Edgerton's character and maybe the past really isn't in the past. Pumped to see this one tonight! Watch the trailer here.
3. Anjouil's Boutique (And Tax Free Weekend Sales!)
This weekend marks the back to school sales and that means for a lot of states TAX-FREE WEEKENDS! Check out your favorite local boutiques when you can come across some great deals and I always support shopping local. Be sure to see if there are some boutiques you may buy from but not in your city (online shopping). One of my favorites is Anjouil's Boutique located in Pasadena, TX. They are offering tax-free purchases in-store and online from Friday, August 7th-Sunday, August 9th.
Love this romper plus it's under $35! |
I will admit when I first heard about this book, I rolled my eyes. Another inflated "memoir" from a former reality star. The E! series "Girls Next Door" portrayed three fun, young girls with the eternal ladies man and Playboy creator, Hugh Hefner. Watching the series a couple of years ago, you were led to believe these women were happy and in love with Hugh. The trio of ladies seemed to have it all. Turns out that wasn't necessarily the case. I picked up this book as an easy read when I headed to the beach a few weeks ago expecting a fluff read. It's actually very interesting and you get a glimpse inside of a lifestyle that may not exactly be what you think it is. The saying "all that glitters isn't gold" has never seemed more accurate.

5. Fall Accessories
The seasons are changing and soon we will all be walking around town with boots, scarves and pumpkin spiced lattes (or in my case pumpkin spice donuts) which means time to get your fall accessories in order! I love a good statement piece since I'm not crazy about stacks of jewelry, I like it minimal. This bracelet just screams fall to me! Accessory Concierge is hands down a go-to for me when it comes to jewelry, the look and prices are a perfect fit. I can't wait to add this one to my collection!
Happy Friyay!
XOXO,
